Mawlamyine, April (15)

The junta troops have been conducting aerial bombings at night in Demoso, Karenni State since two days ago, said the People’s Defense Force (Demoso).

Despite the military council’s efforts to organize Thingyan Festivals across the country, Demoso has been hit by a series of night-time airstrikes and bombings.

The junta has been carrying out heavy artillery shelling in the mornings and afternoons, following aerial bombings at night. The fighting between the two sides is still going on, according to a spokeswoman for the PDF.

“The military council has been carrying out airstrikes for two days. It was around 6 in the evening. Houses are damaged. They are shelling all the time. The fighting is still going on,” an information officer of Demoso PDF said.

At least 30 military people were killed in the clashes between Oukuri battle in Demoso Township on April 11 and 12 while seven Karenni soldiers were slain.

The regime has been relocating armored vehicles and tanks to Karenni State, where fighting has intensified, since the second week of April, increasing its military presence.

In Karenni State, fighting continues between the military council and the local People’s Defense Force after the military coup, with over 200,000 people fleeing to the woods and shelters.
