4 civilians, including two children wounded by junta’s heavy artillery shell in Hpapun

The KNU said that four civilians, including two children, were seriously injured when the military council launched an artillery round without any fighting into the Hto Khay Lo village, Mae Nyu village tract, Hpapun District controlled by the Karen National Union (KNU).

On April 13, a joint team of the military council and the Border Guard Force (BGF) fired an 81 mm artillery shell into the village.

Two children, aged 11 and 12, were shot in the right thigh and right arm, while two adults, aged 30s and 60s, were shot in the right body and left arm.



The KNU Brigade 5 issued that the artillery shelling was carried out by the 408th light infantry battalion under the 8th Military Operation Command ( MOC 😎 based in Ma Htaw village, and the BGF Battalion 1013.

In addition, on the evening of April 13, the junta and the BGF together launched three more artillery shells into No Phaw Htee and Hto Khay Lo villages, injuring cattle and damaging homes and furniture.
The military council and the BGF have often shelled communities in Hpapun area, killing and wounding local inhabitants.
