On the morning of March 31, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked a military checkpoint at the Moppalin intersection in Kyaikto Township in Mon State, officials of the Kyaikto Revolutionary Forces said.
Six members of the regime forces were killed and two others injured in the clashes, while one KNLA member was killed and three injured.
The body of the fallen comrade Phoe Cho of the KNLA and PDF joint forces could not be retrieved, according to an official from the Kyaikto Revolutionary Forces.
During the battle that lasted more than 20 minutes, two passenger vehicle drivers were taken to Kyaikto Township People’s Hospital after being shot.
The locals said nearly 40 more junta members arrived after the fighting and interrogated passers-by.
The military checkpoint at the Moppalin intersection in Kyaikto Township is frequently attacked, killing and wounding military personnel.
