Mawlamyine, April (5)
The Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) says it will submit a proposal for Political Roadmap by NCA signatories to all political parties concerned, including the National Unity Government (NUG) and the military council.
After a six-day session of the fourth conference of top leaders of NCA signatories, they announced that proposal at PPST’s first news conference on April 4.
Comrade Myo Win, a spokesman for the Peace Process Steering Team (PPST), said the motion for a Political Roadmap would be submitted to all political parties involved, including the NUG government and the military council.
“In the first phase, the proposal will be put on the table. The PPST does not follow the NCA framework for resolving political issues but would continue to stand by the essence of the NCA. Through the media, we must make it obvious to the public what our Political Roadmap is,” he added.
Following the meeting, two members from each of the NCA signatories are appointed to the new PPST.
In addition, the PPST’s Steering Committee has been reorganized and Vice-Chairman Naing Aung Min from the New Mon State Party (NMSP) has been assigned as the group’s leader; Colonel Khun Okka of the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA), Khaing Soe Aung from the Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) and Dr. Naw Ka Paw Htoo from KNU / KNLA / PC as members, and Comrade Myo Win as the coordinator.
The fourth conference of NCA signatories was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand from March 29 to April 3.
