Mon State Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan, who was charged by the regime with electoral fraud, was put on trial on April 19, according to a source close to the court.
The military council has accused Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan of abusing his power in the election with three cases including Section 130 (a) of the Penal Code and section 171 (f).
Mon State Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan was tried in Mawlamyine Township Court for those cases. The military council issued an indictment last month in connection with the election case against Mon State Prime minister.
If the Mon state Prime Minister is convicted, he might face another three years in prison.
Prime Minister Dr Aye Zan is currently facing 12 charges, including nine counts of corruption.
On December 17, last year, Mon State Chief Minister Dr. Aye Zan was sentenced to two years in prison under Section 505(b) on charges of inciting employees to join the CDM movement.
