Demoso, July (3)
The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) 10th Battalion released a statement that, the Loikaw-Mawchi highway in the eastern part of Demoso in Kayah State will be open only three days a week from July 11 due to the military situation on both sides.
The decision on the use of the Loikaw-Mawchi highway was approved KNDF battalions and administrators in Demoso Township, Karenni government and Ministry of Home affairs.
The KNDF has asked travelers to use the Loikaw-Mawchi road for only three days – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The move is aimed at cutting off food supplies to military councils stationed in Kayah State, said Ko Lay, the commander of KNDF battalion-10.
The limitations include not transporting foreign passengers, displaying letters of reference from District-2 for cement bags; and not transporting more than ten rice bags.
However, the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) battalion said that it will allow access to the road for the displaced people and health purposes within the restricted period.
In Karenni State, clashes between the military council and the local People’s Defense Force continued after the military coup, and some areas were controlled by the PDFs.
