Three 10-year-old girls died after drowning in Phalawat Gyi village in Mon State’s Paung Township at around 9 am on July 12, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
The three girls drowned in a pond of mining field on their way home from delivering alms to their father, who kept the Sabbath at Thayetgu Tawra Monastery.
Following the search for the three missing girls, their sandals and food carrier were found near the pond, and their bodies were discovered near the rock in the middle of the pond.
The deceased are Ma Phyo Thiri, 13; Ma Soe Pyae Pyae San, 11; and Ma Khinedar Thein, 12, and they are students from Zayitchaung Primary School.
The bodies of the three drowned girls were taken to Paung Township People’s Hospital for autopsy.
