The Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) announced on August 22 that a comrade was killed during a clash between the two sides that took place near Buddha’s Footprint Pagoda Hill, in Karenni’s DemosoTownship.

On August 20, the KNDF clashed with the two military columns who marched from Kadarlar village and Demoso Township.

The junta suffered huge losses in the battle, and one KNDF comrade was killed and another was injured.

As the joint force of Karenni Army (KA) and KNDF attacked junta forces invading Htee Kalutaw village from Hpruso on August 20, the junta retreated, suffering heavy casualties, and the KNDF confiscated some ammunition and communication devices.

In the third week of August, the massive armed forces invaded Demoso Twonship via Hpruso and Loikaw Townships.

Some civilians were hit and killed by the junta’s heavy weapons during the clashes, the KNDF’s statement said.
