Yangon, August (25)
The Department of Myanmar Examinations under the Ministry of Education announced on August 23 that applicants for the upcoming year’s old system matriculation exam could submit their applications between September 1 and September 30.
The military council said that for those who failed the 2022 matriculation exam and for students who missed to take the exam for various reasons, the old system and old curriculum exam will be held for the last time in 2023.
The application will cost 900 kyats in total, which includes a 200 kyat application fee and a 700 kyat Ministry of Education stamp fee.
The Department of Myanmar Examinations (head office), located in Nay Pyi Taw, and the Department of Myanmar Examinations, located in Hlaing Township, University of Yangon, both sell application forms and stamps.
The regime’s Ministry of Education announced on June 17 that there were more than 280,000 people who took the nationwide matriculation exam held by the military council in 2022, and more than 130,000 of them passed the exam.
More than 900,000 people registered to take the 2020 matriculation exam prior to the coup, but over 600,000 students went on strike instead, skipping the test.
The Ministry of Education of the National Unity Government (NUG) has announced that it will not recognize the matriculation results of the military council and will honor the students who did not take the exam.
After the coup d’état in Myanmar, under the guidance of the National Unity Government (NUG), private education schools sprang up and taught CDM students online.
After the military council arrested the founder of the Kaung For You online school on July 13, certain information was leaked, and the CDM teachers who were working there were also held in custody.
The Education Strike Committee announced on July 16 that such a kind of arrest is a violation of the freedom of education by the military council and is treating teachers as enemies.
