Loikaw, October (5)
After a passenger plane was shot in Kayah State’s Loikaw in recent days, the regime forces are said to have invaded and ransacked the villages in eastern Loikaw, the residents told Than Lwin Times.
The junta forces continuously fired artillery shells into the villages in eastern Loikaw since September 3.
Locals said that the areas targeted by the regime troops are village communities where there are no members of the People’s Defense Forces.
Because the villages in the eastern part of Loikaw are close to the city, refugees from other parts of regions and Kayah State come to live there.
After the MNA flight carrying 63 passengers was shot on September 30, local defense forces said the military council was deploying reinforcements in the areas along the route where the plane landed.
In Kayah State, more than 200,000 local residents have fled and have not been able to return to their homes due to the ongoing fighting between the Military Council and PDFs following the military coup.
