Civilian leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was sentenced to three more years in prison for two corruption cases by the coup council, sources close to the court told Than Lwin Times.
The Nay Pyi Taw Special Court passed judgment on two cases on October 12.
The Military Council filed two cases against Aung San Suu Kyi under Section 55 of the Anti-Corruption Law for allegedly receiving US$ 550,000 from U Maung Weik four separate times between 2019 and 2020 under the name of the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation.
Businessman U Maung Weik testified that it was only a donation to the Daw Khin Kyi Foundation, and State Counselor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi also pleaded not guilty.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been sentenced to 26 years in prison for a total of 14 cases, including recent two cases.
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is currently facing five corruption charges, including one involving the purchase of a helicopter.
