The KNU Brigade 5 reported that 19 junta soldiers were killed and 13 others were injured in the battle that took place from October 7 to October 10 in KNU’s Hpapun District.
On October 10, the regime forces were ambushed in Luthaw and Butho Townships in Hpapun District, killing three soldiers, the statement said.
The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) attacked junta forces stationed in Kuuseik village in Hpapun Township on the 9th of October, and 11 soldiers were killed while 10 others sustained injuries.
Five soldiers were killed and three others were injured in four battles between junta forces and KNLA Brigade 5 on October 7 and October 8.
Moreover, three locals were hurt by the military council’s artillery shells during the 4-day conflict between the two sides.
Following the coup, more than 100,000 residents have fled their homes in Hpapun District, an area controlled by the KNU Brigade 5, as a result of the fighting between the KNLA and the Military Council.
