A headmistress was killed after being arrested in Tagay Chaung village of Kinmonchaung village tract, Mon State’s Kyaikto Township around noon on February 23, the residents told Than Lwin Times.

Daw Nwe Nwe Oo, the headmistress of the primary school in Tagay Chuang village, was arrested by two gunmen and shot dead at a village cemetery.

She died at the scene with five gunshot wounds.

The dead body of Daw Nwe Nwe Oo has reportedly been transported to Kyaikto Hospital.

According to locals, the school principal, Daw Nwe Nwe Oo, who died as a result of gunshot wounds, left behind two children, and her husband died recently due to health issues.

This is the first time a school principal has been killed in Kyaikto since the military coup.

According to the data of the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP), the number of civilians killed in Mon State has reached 47 in the two years since the military took power.
