Mawlamyine, March 16

Acting President of Myanmar’s National Unity Government asked international community to prohibit the sales of fighter jets and aviation fuels to the military junta which is using its air force to indiscriminately bomb civilians.

Duwa Lashi La said at the 10th meeting of NUG in 2023 held on 14 March, “Our government calls international community for an immediate halt of selling fighter jets and aviation fuel to prevent brutal killing of civilians in air strikes, with the needs of cutting their revenue and preventing import of ammunition.”

He also requested neighbouring and global countries for effective assistance to stop inhumane and violent attacks of the military.

The acting president extended his deep condolences to the families of the victims in the recent massacre of innocent civilians, including Buddhist monks, in Nam Nane village, Pinlaung Township of southern Shan state.

The figure of Assistance Association for Political Prisoners has showed that over 3,000 civilians have been killed in the violent attacks of junta troops.

The junta is using fighter jets in frequent air strikes over the areas of strong resistance in the country, destroying historical sites for the country and private property.
