Fighting has escalated in the Mekanei area in Myawaddy under KNU Brigade 6, and junta forces have launched more attacks using fighter jets, said revolutionary forces.

Revolutionary forces claimed that the junta army, which has suffered losses in the Mekanei area since the first week of April, carried out attacks with the help of fighter jets at 1:00 a.m. on April 22.

The regime forces conducted air raids several times on the Mekanei area under Brigade 6 while ground forces launched offensives, according to the official information of VENOM PDF, the second column of Cobra Column.

In the early morning of April 22, the Black Panther column reported that the members of revolutionary forces were not harmed in the air attack by the junta army.

On the afternoon of April 21, the regime forces carried out an air attack, and besides the junta army and its-aligned BGF, which opened fire day and night with heavy weapons and multiple rocket launcher system, and one comrade from the Black Panther Column was injured.

In addition, the junta forces’ bullet shells and accessories were confiscated during the clearing of the area, the Black Panther column reported.

The intense fighting between the two sides has forced thousands of local people from villages in the Mekanei area to flee to safe areas, and they are in need of humanitarian aid, said the Karen civil societies.
