There were losses on both sides in the clashes that broke out between the junta army and the revolutionary forces at Pawutkon village, Pala town in Tanintharyi Region’s Palaw township, said a spokesperson for Myeik Battalion 1.
Beginning on June 21, a unit of around 200 junta soldiers separated into three columns reached the town of Pawutkon, sparking a two-day battle with the local resistance forces.
Ten members of the regime forces were reported to have been killed, and the PDF lost one comrade but confiscated weapons and ammunition.
During the battle, the military regime closed the Palato village and Palaw-Makyeekon checkpoints, leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded for two days.
On June 22, passenger vehicles were reported to be running as before after the conflict ceased.
On June 17, regime forces attacked local defense forces inspecting trucks on the Yangon-Myeik route near Pawutkon village, resulting in an exchange of fire that killed one and injured two.
Since the military coup, there have been frequent clashes between the junta army and the revolutionary forces in Palaw Township, which has been declared martial law.
