The regime troops are hunting locals in Hnit Karen village in Mon State’s Ye Township, for no apparent reason, forcing the locals to flee, sources told Than Lwin Times.
After the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the PDFs raided the Hnit Kare police station on June 25, junta troops are arbitrarily arresting local people.
It is reported that junta troops entered the village while opening gunfire in the morning of June 29, searched for the residents, arrested them, and destroyed their homes.
The junta troops have arrested at least six local people and taken away their cars and motorcycles, according to the locals.
As a result, the majority of the locals are fleeing, while some are hiding.
Than Lwin Times is investigating to find out the identities of those arrested and where they are being held.
Hnit Kakren village, where many Mon people live, has roughly 3,000 houses, and the locals are taking refuge in monasteries, and some have relocated to safer places out of fear of being hit by junta airstrikes.
In June, junta air strikes and artillery shelling killed three people and injured others in Hnit Karen village.
Following the military coup, 65 people were killed and more than 400 were arrested in Mon State, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).
