Three members of People’s Defense Forces were killed in a battle that broke out between Khamaung Taung and Sakhankyi villages in Tanintharyi Region’s Launglon Township, reported Launglon PDF (LLPDF) on July 27.

The invasion of 200-strong junta troops has triggered a clash between the two sides since July 22.

Comrade Ko Ank, Comrade F-One, and Comrade Ko Wa Tote from Launglon PDF.

The junta army also suffered losses in the battle, and the exact number of casualties is under investigation, according to the LLPDF.

Since the junta troops entered the area near Khamaung Taung village on July 27, the military situation between the two sides has been tense.

Meanwhile, nearly 1,000 residents from the four villages of Khamaung Taung, Sakhangyi, Narkhan Taw, and Phwar Boke Pyin have fled their homes during the fighting.

On July 12, the regime troops in Narkhan Taw village fired artillery shells into Khamaung village, killing one local girl, according to local residents.
