Kyaukkyi, July (28)

The No. 3 battalion of the Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO) has issued a warning to the public not to travel on the road connecting Kyaukgyi and Nat Than Kwin Townships, starting July 27, as the junta army is using the public as cover during the fighting between the two sides.

The KNU cited the warning letter of No. 3 Battalion KNDO Commander, Saw Hla Shwe Hae, on July 27 that it was found that the junta army was using the people as shields and carrying out military activities in various ways.

The KNDO has warned the public not to travel on the road between Kyaukkyi and Nat Than Kwin townships in Bago Region starting July 27, and people living in the villages along the road should not go out from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

If the villagers need to travel for an emergency, they should notify the responsible leaders in advance and the KNDO will not be held responsible for the consequences of failure to follow the instructions, the statement said.

The KNDO Battalion 3’s notice issued on July 27 is valid until it is revoked, the statement said.

Since the junta column invaded Kyaukkyi, Shwe Kyin and Mone Townships of Nyaunlaybin District of KNU Brigade 3, the clashes broke out with the allied anti-regime forces of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), the Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO) and the People’s Defense Forces (PDF).
