Two members of the junta army were killed in an attack on the Hpayar Me checkpoint near Maung Mae Shaung village in Tanintharyi Region’s Dawei Township, according to Oak Awe Column.

The allied resistance forces launched a surprise attack on Hpayar Me checkpoint, where nearly 30 troops were stationed, around 1:30 p.m. on 7 September.

Following the attack, the two sides exchanged fire for over 10 minutes, during which two junta troops were killed and three were injured.

The spokesperson of the Oak Awe Column told Than Lwin Times that the Hpayar Me checkpoint was attacked for arresting and inspecting the passengers and extorting money from them.

While the resistance fighters were withdrawing following the attack, the regime troops continued to open fire relentlessly, said the travelers.

According to reports, the military council picked up the injured or deceased troops and transported them by ambulance to Dawei Hospital.
