Mawlamyine, 9 September

The office of Pa-O National Organization (PNO) in Naugn Kalar village of Thaton Township, where Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein and the local residents were scheduled to meet, was attacked by Thaton PDF around 5 a.m. on 8 September, the official of resistance force told Than Lwin Times.

The Thaton PDF detonated the office with a mine while regime troops were providing security at the office of the Pa-O National Organization.

The local PDF said that five soldiers were injured in the attack, but Than Times has not been able to confirm the report yet.

According to a PDF official in Thaton District, the explosives were detonated early in the morning as a warning because they were worried of injuring civilians if they launched an attack during the gathering.

According to local residents, the sound of an explosion was heard near the PNO office early in the morning, but the extent of the damage is unknown.

This incident caused the junta-appointed Mon State Chief Minister, U Aung Kyi Thein, to hold a meeting at the administrative office in Naung Kalar village instead of the PNO office, and they left at around noon.
