More than 2,000 residents have fled their homes due to the fighting and junta’s artillery fire in Mone Township under KNU-held Nyaunglaybin District, reported the KNU on 30 October.
The artillery shells launched by Thabyay Nyunt base and police stations exploded after landing on Kyaukkyi around 8 p.m. on 28 October.
After that, four clashes were reported between the junta army and the joint forces of KNLA Brigade 3, according to the statement.
The junta shelling and the conflict have forced 2,052 local residents to flee from the villages of Kyaukkyi, San Man Pauk, Thabyay Nyut, Shwe Pyi Thar, and Laylankon, and they are in urgent need of food and medicine, according to the statement.
On October 20, the Light Infantry Battalion 351 fired five artillery rounds into Mayan Sein Lay village, prompting more than 400 local residents to flee their home.
According to the statement, more than 400 displaced people have not been able to return to their homes and are in need of emergency assistance such as accommodation, food, and medical supplies.
More than 200,000 locals have fled the KNU’s Nyaunglaybin District as a result of the junta attacks and fighting, reported the KNU.
