Local residents are concerned due to the regime forces’ artillery shelling after rumors spread that the People’s Defense Forces would attack Thatthong Township in Mon State.

The military council’s artillery unit and battalion near the Warpar dam on the outskirt of Thathon have opened fire at least ten times since the evening of November 17.

Locals said the junta army has been shelling into the communities where the people live.

Local residents are concerned about the possibility of clashes in the region after the KNU announced a major offensive.

It is reported that departmental staff are no longer sleeping in their offices at night and are moving out of staff housing.

In the past few months, at least 10 soldiers were killed when the joint forces of the KNLA attacked Theinzayet police station and Durinseik checkpoint.
