Nay Pyi Taw, 1 December

The junta chief claimed that outnumbered armed resistance forces were attacking their bases and outposts during the ongoing fighting across the country.

At the meeting held on 29 November, General Min Aung Hlaing talked about the history of ethnic armed groups and how they took advantage of the ceasefire to expand their forces.

From the end of October to the present, the junta army has been engaging with resistance forces in Sagaing, Magway, Chin, Karenni, Karen, Rakhine, and Mon states, including Northern Shan States, relying on defense strategy.

According to junta chief, the joint armed resistance groups used drop bombs as well as massive forces in their attacks, so troops had to be deployed in some areas for security reasons.

He said at the meeting that it was found that more than 25,000 drop bombs were used along with military drones in the incident that occurred in northeastern Shan State using massive forces and technology.

He went on to say that the revolutionary groups used nearly 120 homemade rockets (107-mm), and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), the Arakan Army (AA), and other forces participated in the attack on the military bases and outposts, with nearly 6,500 foreign drone experts.

“Camps cannot be captured using drones, only ground forces,” military and political analyst U Than Soe Naing said, “From what I understand, the military leader’s term for other foreign countries is China. His military assessment is quite ridiculous.”

The military regime suffered losses in the fighting in northern Shan State that started late October and those in Sagaing’s Htee Chaik, Kantbalu, Kawlin, Tamu, Khanpata and Hakha and lailinpi in Chin State, Palatwa and Pauktaaw in Rakinge, Chaunghnakhwa in Mon State and Loikaw in Kayah State.

The offensives in Northern Shan State caused the military council to hold a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council on November 8, declaring that they would take the necessary action.

However, due to the revolutionary forces’ balanced attack, the junta forces in towns, police stations, and outposts on the front lines are forced to raise the white flag.

According to the military leader, the AA violated the temporary ceasefire agreement by participating in the battle alongside the MNDAA as well as attacking military bases with outnumbered forces in Rakhine.

U Pe Than, a veteran politician from Rakhine, stated, “Since AA has already declared war to attack the military council, it cannot be said that it has violated its commitment because it is an organization that has been fighting to regain its sovereignty.”

The Three Brotherhood Alliance, including the AA, declared war on the military council in order to protect people’s lives, defend themselves, gain more control over their region, and end the military dictatorship, which is the aspiration of the entire population.

At the moment, the revolutionary forces have taken control of 18 towns in Chin, Karenni, and Sagaing, including northern Shan State, while hundreds of militia and police personnel, soldiers, and families from two junta battalions have surrendered.
