The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint forces took control of three military outposts in the front lines in Shwe Kyin Township, Bago Region, reported the KNU on December 11.
On November 17, the KNLA joint forces first captured the front-line camps at the foot of the mountain in Shwe Kyin, according to the statement.
After the camps were attacked, the junta forces relinquished Win Ka Lon camp on December 2 and Kun Phae camp on December 7 due to the security situation.
The KNU statement said that the Kun Phae camp was burned down by KNLA joint forces on December 10.
According to the KNU, the retreated regime troops had joined camps near Shwe Kyin for reinforcement.
According to a report by the Karen Peace Support Network (KPSN), since the military coup, the military council in southeastern Myanmar has declined in both the military and administrative sectors, and 62 military bases have been lost to offensives by KNU’s allied forces.
In addition, the report stated that the KNU had gained more control not only along the Than Lwin River, but also the main communication routes between Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw.
More than 11,000 clashes took place between the KNU joint forces and the junta army in KNU territory since the coup, and around 18,000 soldiers were killed or wounded, according to the KNU
