Launglon, 22 December
The exchange of fire between the two forces killed two civilians and injured eight others in Tanintharyi Region’s Launglon Twonship, with both sides suffering losses, locals confirmed to Than Lwin Times.
On December 20, at around 8:00 a.m., two members of the People’s Defense Forces were arrested and killed, and they were then set on fire while waiting for the military convoy to attack with landmines at the entrance to Launglon.
After the incident, the allied resistance forces launched simultaneous attacks on three locations where regime troops and militia members were stationed around 5 pm.
Locals reported that an artillery shell killed two residents, Ko Soe Thu and Ma Hnin Hnin Aye, and injured eight more. A woman and a man were seriously injured and taken to Dawei Public Hospital.
After the exchange of fire, the People’s Defense Forces set fire to the junta checkpoint at Launglon high school and the veterans’ office at the intersection of Nyaung Pin Road and arrested one militiaman.
The body of the militiaman that was arrested by the People’s Defense Forces was found near the coconut gateway sign at the entrance to Launglon on the morning of December 21, but the military council has not yet come to pick him up.
It is reported that since yesterday morning, the military council has increased security in the town and is conducting searches and inspections.
The junta army forcibly confiscated gold, money, and valuables from homes in five villages, including Thabyar and Nyin Maung in Launglon, this month.
