Lainglon, July (23)
The junta armed forces launched a massive offensive in Tanintharyi Region’s Launglon Township on July 22, the residents told Than Lwin Times.
The regime’s three columns, with about 200 troops, marched through the orchards of Launglon Township’s Kyauksin and Thinbawseik villages.
In recent days, the junta troops and military-backed Pyu Saw Htee militia have been frequently attacked, so the military council has started clearing the area.
The local people are worried about the outbreak of fighting because the junta army has conducted military operations in the villages.
Last month, at least five civilians were arrested and shot dead by junta forces in Launglon Township, forcing more than 300 residents to flee.
The Launglon Township in Tanintharyi Region, is also a stronghold of the resistance forces against the military council after the coup.
