On July 30, the junta army invaded Ayekani and Khamauk villages in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township and arrested more than 10 local people, the local sources told Than Lwin Times.
About 80 troops of regime forces raided Ayekani and Khamauk villages and opened fire around 4 am.
The military forces then arrested 10 villagers, ransacking the houses and looting valuable things and mortar cycles, the locals said.
Due to the violent invasion of the junta forces, the residents of Ayekani, Khamauk and nearby villages have been forced to flee their homes and gone into hiding.
The invasion came after the five-vehicle military convoy was attacked by Yebyu PDF near Hnankye village on July 29.
The Yebyu-based PDF said the attack damaged some military vehicles and wounded military personnel.
