Yebyu, November (17)
The regime forces have been marching en masse towards Kalonhtar village in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township on November 16, the PDF members told Than Lwin Times.
The 100-strong junta forces coming from the Yebyu split into two columns and invaded the areas where the People’s Defense Forces were thought to be.
According to a PDF official, tensions are high as a result of the military council’s invasion, and the conflict may escalate.
Residents of Kalonhtar, Khaungtaipyin, and nearby villages planned to flee as the junta troops entered the villages, and some were fleeing in advance.
When the military council entered the villages, the locals were worried that they would arrest the locals, shoot them for no reason, ransack their homes, and set fire to them.
Following the military coup, there have been frequent clashes and military tension between the regime forces and the People’s Defense Forces in Yebyu Township.
