The leader of a militia group was killed in Inphalaung village of Sin Inn village tract in Mon State’s Belin Township on November 29, the residents told Than Lwin Times.

U Phone Myint Kyaw, who came from Taungsun village to Inphalaung village to collect money for three-digit gambling, was shot at close range by the two unidentified assailants at around 10:30 am.

U Phone Myint Kyaw, a militia leader who had been shot in the head and chest, died on the way to Belin Township Public Hospital.

According to a local, U Phone Myint Kyaw was a militia leader and a member of the Taungsun village administration; some people have been detained or are on the run because of him.

No group has claimed responsibility for the death of U Phone Myint Kyaw until now.

At least 30 informants, including militia leaders, have been assassinated in Belin Township since the military takeover.
