A woman who went missing for two days on Mount Zwegabin in Karen State, was found dead on the morning of April 1, Hpa-an Township’s rescue teams said.
Ma Zar Chi Hlaing, 22, of Taw Kone village in Hpa-an, went missing after climbing a mountain with a man on March 30.
Ma Zar Chi Hlaing’s body was found by sniffer dogs in a ravine under a marian plum tree near the waterfall above Mount Zwegabin. The rescuers said the body was buried and covered with leaves and stones. According to police, Ma Zar Chi Hlaing was murdered.
The man who went up the mountain with Ma Zar Chi Hlaing was a resident of Kawkareik Township and is now on the run.
Ma Zar Chi Hlaing’s body was taken to the morgue for autopsy. The body will then be returned to family members for burial.
