Residents of Mawlamyine do not participate in the regime-led Thingyan Festival on the fourth day, A-Tat Nei, and continue to boycott it.
Today is the day when people used to pay a visit to Kyaikmaraw in previous years, however, this year, the road to Kyaikmaraw is deserted and there are no revellers.
The Mon State’s military council requested the departmental personnel to come and join the central pavilion in order to be packed with the crowds.
Mawlamyine residents continue to boycott Thingyan’s fourth day in order to avoid participating in the junta’s festivals.
