The Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade 5 reported that there were 383 confrontations between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and regime troops in Hpapun District in April.

At least 173 military personnel were killed and 87 others were injured in the clashes, and a battalion commander and a deputy battalion commander were killed, the KNU said.



During the confrontations, three KNLA Brigade 5 members were killed and 16 others were injured.

Furthermore, the KNLA destroyed two weapons stores belonging to the military council, three bridges, and four logistics vehicles.

According to the KNU’s 5th Brigade, the military council dropped bombs on Hpapun District seven times in April, and over 600 artillery shells were launched into communities and fields.
