Kyaikto, June (4)

According to the Kyaikto Revolutionary Force (KRF), 200 military members marched in two columns into the KNU-controlled Kyaikto district.

Since May 12, junta troops have marched from Pyin Ka Toe village in Kyaikto Township, and another column from Kyauk Nyat village in Theinzayet Township.

The junta troops advanced firing mortars amid no fighting, an KRF member said.

He added that military tension could escalate because of the offensive.

As the military council marched in force, many were concerned that the clashes might erupt.
