The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said on July 7 that more than one million people have been displaced by military conflict and insecurity across Myanmar.
Of those, more than 750,000 have fled the military conflict and insecurity following the military coup.
Since February last year, at least 19,000 civilian homes, including churches and monasteries in northwestern Myanmar, have been destroyed.
Fighting has intensified in recent weeks in northwestern and southeastern Myanmar, with many armed clashes in states and regions.
As a result, more than 5,400 people from 12 villages in Kyaukgyi Township in eastern Bago Division and about 3,000 in Launglon Township, Tanintharyi Division, have been fleeing to nearby forests and safer places since mid-June.
More than 4,000 IDPs in Kayah State have returned to their homes in Loikaw and Demoso townships, UNOCHA reported.
