Yebyu, August (20)
A vehicle carrying a police force and Pyu Saw Htee militia hit the landmines near 40-miles on Yebyu-Kanpauk Road in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
On August 19, around 8:00 am, a car carrying about six members of Pyu Saw Htee group from Yapa and Zadi Village, policemen from the Kanpauk police station, who had come to a meeting in Yebyu Township, was attacked with landmines planted by the PDFs.
The attack might have killed a police sub-Lieutenant and three Pyu Saw Htee members, a source said.
The policemen and Pyu Saw Htee members were taken by their security forces.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
The junta’s convoys have also been frequently attacked with mines this month in Yebyu Township, and military personnel have been regularly detained and interrogated locals from adjacent villages.
