A combined force of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) Battalion 18 and Dawna Column captured the junta base situated in Kyeik village in Karen’s Kawkayeik Township, the KNU reported.
The KNLA joint force started to attack the junta’s Light Infantry Battalion 557 (Kyiek camp) at 2:02 am on September 20 and seized the whole camp 2:19 am, the statement said.
The KNU claimed that seven junta soldiers were killed and two others were captured alive.
Moreover, the KNLA confiscated various weapons, bullets, and bombs.
The KNU announced that the regime camp was occupied after being blockaded and cut off from food supplies since August 8.
After the military coup, the KNU’s resistance forces captured 10 bases, including frontline military outposts.
