Nine locals held incommunicado in Pwintbyu

Pwintbyu, October (13)

The nine residents who were arrested by the military council in Sanpya village in Magway Region’s Pwintbyu Township are now being held incommunicado, the local sources told Than Lwin Times.

The military council forces arbitrarily arrested ten residents of Sanypya village on the night of October 10.

A minor was released among the arrested, while the others were detained for no apparent reason, according to a local.

At present, the local residents do not know where the arrested people are being held and are worried that their lives will be in danger.

Since October 5, military council forces have been patrolling in plain clothes and arresting people for no reason.

Those arrested are accused of being related to the defense forces, and some were members of the NLD Party, so there may be animosity between them, a NLD party member said.

Following the military coup, more than 100 people have been arrested on unjust charges in Pwintbyu Township, Magway Region, and approximately 400 people are on the run.
