Yangon, October (29)
The PPST stated that it would cooperate with the international community and ASEAN in order to facilitate political dialogue, participating all relevant stakeholders in resolving Myanmar’s political issues.
The Peace Process Steering Team (PPST) meeting took place by video conference on October 27 and 28. They talked about the situation in politics, military affairs, peace, protection of civilians, humanitarian issues, and future developments.
The PPST will work with the international community to protect civilians and provide humanitarian assistance to resolve political problems in accordance with the pragmatic needs of Myanmar’s politics.
The PPST released a statement saying, “We are deeply saddened that people lost their lives when the military used excessive air force to attack a school in Latyatkone village, Dibayin Township, Sagaing Region, and A Nagn Pa village, Hpakant, Kachin State.
Therefore, PPST urges stakeholders to refrain from any actions that would aggravate the ongoing political and military conflict, as this would have a negative impact on efforts to resolve the political issue through political means.
PPST said that it will stand firmly on three basic principles, namely, to implement a meaningful political dialogue involving all stakeholders, to solve the political problem in a political way, and to protect civilians.
In addition, the PPST said in a statement that it will continue to work endlessly amid the intense political storm to achieve sustainable peace and build a federal democratic union.
