Stake mine kills 3 soldiers, wounds 5 others in Thaton

On the morning of November 16, three junta soldiers were killed and five were injured in a stake mine attack between Painnetaw and Wiyaw villages in Mon State’s Thaton Township, the KNU’s Alliance Supervision Committee (Thaton District) told Than Lwin Times.
The 40-strong regime troops marching on foot from Painnetaw village towards Wyaw village hit a stake mine planted by the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint force.

It is reported that the three deceased soldiers and the wounded were taken back by the junta army in ambulances.

At 11:00 am, the KNLA joint forces further launched a drone attack on the regime forces retreating to the base of Light Infantry Battalion 9 after hitting the stake mine.

The details of the injuries sustained by the military council during the drone attack are still being investigated, according to Major Saw Kyaw Myint, chairman of the KNU’s Alliance Supervision Committee (Thaton District).

There has been military tension in KNU-held Brigade 1 (Thaton District) due to the invasion of military column.
