The Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) ambushed an infantry column providing security for Tanintharyi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko’s field trip to the Phaung Taw Gyi Hydropower Project.
On December 5, Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) and People’s Defense Forces attacked an infantry column of more than 300 security forces for the visit of the Chief Minister of the Military Council near Thayat Ngoat village.
The two sides exchanged fire for nearly 15 minutes, and five members of the military council were killed and some injured, the Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) said.
On the other hand, a member of the Dawei Guerrilla Revolutionary Force (DGRF) was injured, but they managed to retreat successfully.
Chief Minister U Myat Ko reportedly left the Phaung Taw Gyi hydropower project on December 6, but regime troops reportedly kept the road secure.
According to residents of Wakone village, members of the military council searched their homes on December 7.
More than 10,000 people have fled Tanintharyi as the regime council and the PDFs have been fighting since the beginning of this month.
