Mine attack on Mawlamyine-Yangon cargo train causes trips to be canceled

Mawlamyine, December (15)

The regime’s Myanmar Railway Department announced that some train trips have been canceled due to a mine attack on the Mawlamyine-Yangon cargo train.

The cargo train was attacked by a mine between Kali Kyung and Tadar-U villages near Thaton Township around 7:30 pm on December 13.

The mine attack on the cargo train forced the cancellation of both up and down Yangon-Mawlamyine night train trips.

The two Yangon-Mawlamyine up-and-down trains scheduled to depart on December 14 have been canceled while the damaged railway is being repaired.

The passengers will be refunded the ticket fees for the canceled train trips.

It is still unknown which organization attacked the cargo train.

The Mawlamyine-Yangon railway section has been attacked with mines at least three times since the military coup.
