Nyaunglaybin, February (14)
Three passengers were killed and nine others were wounded after a bomb blast hit the train station of Nyaunglaybin, Bago Region, on February 13, social rescue team told Than Lwin Times.
At around noon yesterday, a bomb exploded while passengers were waiting to board a train at Nyaunglaybin station.
Ma Lei Lei Aye, Ma Nwet Nwet Win, and Ko Thet Naing Tun from Latat village in Magway Region’s Taungdwingyi Township were killed in an explosion at the train station.
Daw Than Htay, Ma Thuzar Lin, Daw Khin Moe Win, Ko Thet Paing Kyaw, and Ma Nu Wah from Taungdwingyi were among those injured, as were Ma Pyae Phoo Khaing and Ko Thein Zaw from Nyaunglaybin, Ko Aung Lin Tun from Daik-U, and Daw Khin Aye Myint from PyontTasa Township, three of whom are in critical condition.
The emergency crew transported the deceased and the injured to Nyaunglaybin hospital.
In the two years following the military coup, this is the first incident in which passengers have been killed or injured as a result of a bomb attack at the train station.
