Two children were killed and another two were injured in an artillery attack by regime forces in Kyonmain village, Mon State’ Thaton Township, the residents and resistance forces told Than Lwin Times.
The combined force of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) launched a drone attack on the LIB 1 and 402 artillery units of the military council based in Thaton around 6 am on March 8.
After the attack, the Infantry Battalion 24 based in Kyarpan village in Thaton recklessly fired mortar shell into Kyonmain village.
Two children, ages seven and thirteen, were killed, and a local mother and another child were wounded when a mortar shell launched by the junta landed in Kyonmain village.
The two injured locals were rushed to the Phalan Hospital of the 1st Brigade of the KNU in Thaton District.
Following the military coup, at least five local residents were killed and more than 15 were injured as a result of artillery fire from junta-based battalions into Thaton Township’s villages.
