Yebyu, March (17)
The immigration office in Ga ward in Tanintharyi Region’s Yebyu Township was burned down, the locals told Than Lwin Times.
Unknown armed men came to the Yephyu immigration office and burned it down around 7 pm on March 15.
It is reported that almost the entire office building was destroyed by fire and the documents were also caught in the fire.
A spokesman for the Tanintharyi Region’s military council said that more than 100,000 NRC and household records were destroyed in the fire.
When an armed group stormed the office, the employees fled and were unharmed.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
No one was wounded in a bomb explosion that occurred in May last year near the Yehyu immigration office, but in July, the Yebyu office of Military Security Affairs was hit in a bomb blast, leading to almost the entire building being destroyed by fire.
