Thayatchaung, March (19)
The junta and its allied militias arrested and killed Ko Win Htiek from Yange village near Pewa beach in Pedak village of Tanintharyi Region’s Thayatchaung Township, the local residents told Than Lwin Times.
At around 9:00 on March 17, Ko Win Htike went missing when he was arrested by the military council and the militia on his way from Yange village to Pedak village to sell goods.
The missing Ko Win Htike was found dead by local residents at Pewa beach around 4 pm that day.
After being arrested, beaten, and tortured by the regime forces and the militia, Ko Win Htike died of apparent injuries on his chest, neck, and face, as well as gunshot wounds to his chest.
According to local residents, Ko Win Htike, a bachelor from Yange village, was a vegetable seller on a motorcycle traveling around the villages and was left behind by a blind father.
The body of the murdered Ko Win Htike, is still lying on Pewa beach without anyone picking it up until the morning of March 18.
The Telegram accounts of military lobbyists said that Ko Win Htike was arrested and killed for providing support to People’s Defense Force (PDFs).
On February 7, two residents of Yange village, Thayatchaung Township were killed in a confrontation with the junta army that advanced towards the village.
