Hpa-an, April (25)
On the morning of April 24, the military council’s Mae Si Htar checkpoint in Karen State’s Hpa-an was captured by KNLA Brigades 1 and 5, the KNU reported.
The KNLA joint forces raided the Mae Si Htar checkpoint, which is a camp of Light Infantry Battalion 401 under the 8th Military Operations Command (MOC), at 4:30 a.m. on April 24 and reportedly captured the camp within half an hour.
During the seizure of the camp, five junta soldiers were killed and 10 escaped from the camp, according to the statement.
After the attack, the KNLA confiscated one pistol, one K3 79 gun, three K3 guns, 20 boxes of ammunition, and 1,500 bullets were seized from the checkpoint.
Mae Si Htar checkpoint is built between Brigades 1 and 5 of the KNU-controlled area. It is an important checkpoint where the regime forces have been inspecting the travelers, arbitrarily arresting and torturing them, and using them as human shields.
The KUN reported that the seizure of the Mae Si Tha checkpoint was led by Captain Saw Rambo from the strategy office of Thaton District-KNLA Brigade 1 and Deputy Commander of Mutraw KNLA Battalion 102, Captain Bo Taw, and there were no casualties on KNLA side.
