The junta army and the KNLA joint forces engaged in a fight around 7:00 a.m. on April 29 close to Alone Taung area in Ah Lu Lay village in Mon State’s Belin Township, said the KNU’s Allied Oversight Committee-Thaton.
After the military column of more than 50 forces invaded Belin township of the KNU territory, a firefight with the joint forces of the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) broke out for almost half an hour.
Three soldiers were killed and five were injured in the battle, but the combined forces were unharmed as they had the upper hand, the chairman of KNU’s Allied Oversight Committee, Thaton, told Than Lwin Times.
Meanwhile, around 12:00 p.m., on April 29, four soldiers were injured when a KNLA joint force attacked a group of regime troops secretly hiding outside of Ah Wun Gyi village in Belin Township with a drone.
The military regime reinforced its troops and continuously fired heavy weapons into the villages, resulting in a roadblock on the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway for over an hour.
Three soldiers were killed in combat on April 12 between the regime troops and the KNLA joint troops stationed covertly nearby Ah Lu Lay village.
The military council’s continuous shelling of Ah Lu Lay village in Belin Township has forced thousands of residents to flee and they are in need of humanitarian aid, according to the volunteers who assist the IDPs.
