Sittway, 11 June

The Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC) and the United Wa State Army of the Wa state government donated K500 million each  for people affected by Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine state, according to the Rescue and Rehabilitation Committee for Arakan (ERRCA).

U Kyaut Kaw Ann, the vice chairman and chief of external affairs of the UWSA, presented cash assistance on behalf of two organizations in Pankhan Township, Wa state.  The relief cash assistance was received by Dr Nyo Tun Aung, the chairman of ERCA, and U Tung Min Naing, the chief of Humanitarian and Development Coordination Office (HDCO)

The military junta has restricted local and international humanitarian assistance for Rakhine state, and that the Arakan Army is providing relief aid to the cyclone victims.

Military’s travel restriction could worsen difficulties in cyclone affected areas, and UNOCHA has announced on 9 June that all the aid programmes  have been suspended.

The AA’s revolutionary alliances KIA, MNDAA, TNLA, NDAA, and SSPP also provided relief cash for cyclone affected people in Rakhine state through AA.

Local news outlets said that severe cycone Mocha made a landfall to Myanmar on 14 May, leaving over 400 death tolls in seven regions and states, and tens of thousands of people are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.
