A monk from Taung Paw Dat Taing Monastery in Moe Hnaing Ward, Mon State’s Paung Township, was killed and thrown into a pit latrine, locals told Than Lwin Times.
On the night of June 20, 60-year-old monk U Kaw Thala had an argument with a group of people who were drinking alcohol in the monastery compound, said the head of the monastery.
After that, those four drunk people killed U Kaw Thala with an ax, threw the body into the pit latrine at the back of the monastery, and tried to hide his body.
According to the complaint of the head of the monastery, Ye Lin Tun, Bo Bo, and Ah Hnay were arrested by the police for killing U Kaw Thala.
Thein Zaw, who was involved in the incident, is said to be on the run, and the police are searching for him.
It is reported that the body of U Kaw Thala has been sent to Paung People’s Hospital.
Since the military coup, Mon State has seen theft, robbery, killing, and the dumping of bodies.
